UbD & F. Scott Fitzgerald

Some important themes that we may study this marking period are the ideas of materialism and greatness. We will also learn about the time periods of the Jazz Age and the Roaring Twenties. Since our essential question is about our future and the impact we can have, another theme that we can study is our significance in life and start to think about our futures now that we are near it.

Some background knowledge we will need to know is what life was like during the 1920s and the general information about that age. And apparently Jazz Age goes with the Roaring Twenties so knowledge about that age could never hurt.

One of the things that drove Fitzgerald to write was romance. One of his first novels that we wanted to publish was "The Romantic Egotist". Then he thought he found the love of his life which made him want to finish that book even more. Sadly he was rejected.
What was interesting about Fitzgerald's life was that he had pretty good jobs growing up. He was a manufacturer worker, then a salesman in a good company Procter & Gamble. He also was enlisted in the Army. Even after all these types of occupations, he became a writer. But perhaps because of all these jobs and experiences, this made him a better writer overall. He had a good background knowledge to become a good write.
